The recipes use seasonal ingredients from local Australian providers, and are pre-portioned to minimise food wastage. Calorie and Macro-nutrient information is provided per portion. Marley Spoon offers the ability to select from the following options: vegetarian, vegan, family friendly, meat, fish and gluten free. It is subscription based with the ability to pause or cancel at any time. Minimum meal size serves two people starting at around $11 per portion. Summary: Marley Spoon is an excellent option to control calorie intake particularly for those who enjoy and have time for cooking meals.
YouFoodz!
YouFoodz offers prepared meals & snacks along with fruit and veg boxes and other essential groceries delivered to your doorstep.
There is an extensive range of meals to choose from most of which are pretty flavoursome. Either order one off with no strings attached or set up a subscription. YouFoodz meals last for 7 to 9 days in the fridge on average, and can be frozen for up to 3 months. If you are after low calorie options, lower than 350 calories per meal then the YouFoodz options are limited. The meal sizes are quite small and we recommend cooking up some additional veg at the start of the week to throw in with each meal. YouFoodz extensively uses preservatives such as additives, thickeners and stabilisers. Each meal is reasonably priced, they have regular sales and specials and delivery is included.
Summary: YouFoodz is a convenient home-delivery option for pre-made affordable meals with no forced subscription. If you are looking for low calorie options, large meal sizes or concerned about the use of preservatives they are not for you.
